Sometimes called a turtle or clamshell light, our medium oval cage bulkhead sconce was designed after the sturdy passageway fixtures and bulkhead fittings originally used on ships crossing the Atlantic. Additional features include a solid brass guard, thick rubber gasket and weatherproof design. Recent updates include a custom on/off switch for interior nautical bedroom lighting – can be mounted vertically or horizontally. No matter the application, Shiplights painstakingly assembles and UL lists the fixture at our warehouse in Marblehead, MA (USA). Comparisons have been made to the Tortuga Ovale transitional outdoor wall sconce, Mariner outdoor wall light and DWR Davey oval bulkhead light. Recent installations include private residences in Skokie, IL, Nantucket, MA and Water Mill, NY, along with restaurants in New York City and Brooklyn.

*What MAKES Shiplights different from similar looking products: We modify each fixture base so it will attach and cover a standard US junction box. Our lights also come with all necessary hardware for a seamless installation process. IF you’ve been stuck with a similar looking light and have no idea how to mount it, look no further than our nautical lighting solutions. We promise our lights will be easy to install and will hardwire through the back of the fixture directly into the j-box. Alternative mounting options are available upon request.**

Material: Solid Brass Construction
Maintenance: When used by the ocean or in extreme weather conditions, our lights will patina and eventually verdigris over time. Since our lights are solid brass or bronze, they will not rust, corrode or disintegrate. All finishes are living finishes and will continue to patina as they age. We always recommend routine maintenance including a gentle soap & water solution or butcher wax if trying to slow the natural aging process.
